Celebrate GBC’s Newest Sport - BASEBALL
GBC Lightning first baseman, Edwin Lee. takes a swing during a scrimmage.
“I’ve been coaching college baseball for years, but introducing a new
sport to the College and recruiting for the roster is an incredible oppor¬
tunity," Head Coach Tom Riley said of GBC's newly sanctioned Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Division II baseball team - the
GBC Lightning. "The team has strong talent from up and down the state
as well as the tri-state area and from as far away as California, New York
and Ontario, Canada." He continued, “We started practice last Fall, and
now we're gearing up for our first game on February 18 against Barton
College in North Carolina.”
“It’s not easy, but it is rewarding," newly promoted Dean of Students
Chuck Hammond said. “Everyone has worked hard to ensure that we
not only have a team of talented players but that we develop a long-term
strategy for success.” Join the team for the season’s home opener on
Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Doyle Field in Hockessin, Delaware.
This event promises to be a memorable evening
for all. Players will be on hand for pictures and
autographs.
Tickets are $25.00 per person ($10.00 for chil¬
dren 5-11; under 5 free) and will include a buffet
